This year we decided to do some home repair in our kitchen. This also served as a great opportunity to build a dedicated office space in our home. Now it's time to show off all the hard work that went into this project.
First things first, I am no skilled carpenter or builder. In fact, I did not do most of the work you will see in this post. That credit goes to my Father-In-Law, who is the real hero in this story. We did all of the work together, and there is still some more work to be done. But I had to give him the quick shout-out that he deserves. So thank you Kieth!
So back in May...
Our kitchen floor had been starting to fall in by the sink, so we decided to tear up the floor and replace it all. While doing so, we also moved some of the kitchen cabinets around and built a wall. Then, we built a second wall, coming off of the first wall we built.
This split our dining room into two separate parts. The back portion, located near the back door, became my office. And we got a new kitchen pretty much as well. Here are some pictures of the construction process.
Once we got a new door with frame from Lowe's, we installed it, and I started setting up in the new office.
After several months of weekend building, I am now at a place where I can comfortably show off the new office. It's still got some more work to go, and I don't know if I will ever be rid of unsightly cords, but I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.
As a special bonus, here is one final photo for your enjoyment. Taken directly from my Facebook page, it's a 360 image I took with my phone. I will update with a better photo, if I ever get a proper 360 camera.
